Wild Lettuce
$21.00
Energetics
Cool, bitter, calming and mildly sedative.
Constitutional Fit (Ayurveda)
Pacifies Pitta and Vata — its cooling, calming nature soothes excess heat and settles an overactive, unsettled mind. Used cautiously with Kapha, since its sedative quality can deepen sluggishness if overused.
TCM Pattern
Calms the Shen (spirit) and relieves pain — a cooling, quieting herb traditionally used where restlessness, tension, or overactivity has taken hold of the mind or body.
Tissue States
- Western (Matthew Wood): Indicated for Tense and Excited tissue — a relaxant nervine for overactive nerves, restlessness, and difficulty settling into sleep.
- Ayurvedic (Dhatu): Acts on Majja (nerve and marrow tissue), supporting the nervous system's ability to rest and recover.
Suggested Use
Shake well. Take 10–15 drops in water, up to two times daily, or as directed by your practitioner. Start with the lower end of this range to assess sensitivity, as Wild Lettuce's calming action can be more pronounced than other tinctures in this line.
Summary
A cool, bitter relaxant for a mind or body that won't settle. Wild Lettuce has long been used to ease restlessness, tension, and sleeplessness, gently quieting an overactive nervous system without the heaviness of a true sedative.
